We've had trouble with people getting their accounts compromised in the past, so I wanted to throw a quick shout out about a new phishing scheme that appears to be starting.

You may have already heard about the main existing ones (emails saying Blizz thinks you're trying to sell your account, so you need to provide a bunch of info to verify yourself & being contacted about "new mount trials" or the like and how you go to a website to receive the free mount). The new one is about Blizzard giving out account authenticators.

Check the original report (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=20122259803&sid=1) in the WoW forums.

Don't fall for these phishing attempts/scams, folks. No one wants your account compromised!

The link *I* posted is simply to an official WoW forum thread; it's safe.

Of course, this is also a good opportunity to point folks (again) to the Account Security and You! (http://www.lightbrigades.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1796) thread in our own forums.

http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/2148/scamk.jpg if you look at the pic close they try to look like a normal blizzard email. But look closer the email name blizzard @ blizzard.com and the link looks like it will take you to www.worldofwarcraft.com but it wont. If you were to right click and copy address and paste it on to a notebook file you would see that it would take you to a non blizzard site. DONT BE FOOLED
